These cakes, 2 per pack, are listed as 4 Weight Watchers points apiece. Unlike meals (Weight Watchers or otherwise) that use the point system, desserts don’t give you much for your points. But then isn’t that the same of “real” desserts? Gone all too quickly for the calories they provide…
What makes these sorts of prepackaged foods a part of a weight loss plan is that they’re a way of monitoring the amount of calories you eat. have a 200 Calorie (kCal) meal and a 200 Calorie dessert, you’re 400 Calories into it. Do that 3 times a day, that’s 1,200 Calories. If you’ve been eating normally or above normally prior to dieting you’ve been getting at least 2,000 Calories a day, so slashing it by 800 will eventually lead to fat loss. Just remember to avoid “rewarding” yourself with something else that adds back the calories.
The double fudge cake is super easy to prepare. take one out of the box, peel off the clear plastic top, and pop it in the microwave for 10 seconds to defrost it. That’s it. Oh, you sohuld wait a minute before eating it, the box says, but I didn’t find it was lava-hot after 10 seconds. Microwaves vary, so vary your caution accordingly.
When I first peeled open the package, it didn’t look very appetizing but after it came out of the microwave it smelled great.
As a double fudge cake it’s far more chocolate cake than it is fudge, but the fudge sauce keeps it nice and moist as you eat it. Chocolaty, but not overpoweringly so.
Frozen, prepackaged is never as good as fresh, but with pre-made portions just a short zap from freezer to plate, it’s an effective way to have dessert while dieting and not be tempted for seconds. There’s no cake pan to forage in later.
These do contain 19 grams of sugar, and if you’re serious about losing weight and keeping it off you should consider breaking your sugar addiction while you’re at it. But if that isn’t your cup of tea, and you want dessert, this is a fair offering with nice flavour that’s easy to make. Enjoy!
